The Australia Day Celebrations at Callignee Hall -Stitch n Chat will be there!

On Australia day from 11 to 4 pm the newly built Community Hall at Callignee will be the focus of community Celebrations.

Stitch n Chat will be there and we will have quilts that we have stitched throughout the year on display.

This beautiful light filled hall will now be the home of the Stitch N Chat group.

Homespun magazine have donated some subscriptions for prizes and we have stitchery patterns and donations  by Carole at Maggie Robertson Designs  in Traralgon.

This community has rallied together and the opening of the hall has been a real milestone for the people in the district.Well done everyone.

Some pics from the work that has gone on during all of 2010 are on the galleryin this blog  ...through some difficult times , happy times and some sadness too.We have achieved a lot...and thats just the afternoon teas!

Stitchery progress images...

Belladonna lilies were amongst the first flowers to bloom after the fires...these have naturalised around the district and were blooming within days of the fires...so many people commented on them in out talks and quite a few have been stitched so far...Brenda

Wallaby

There were lots of injured and burnt little wallabies ...this is just a little snapshot...some people have finished stitching this one and he will be bordered either side with floral fabrics.

A big thank you is due to Margie Bauer from Inspirations Magazine who alerted me to the kindest of donations of embroidery supplies ,fabric and kits etc etc that were donated by the embroiderers in the USA through the Embroiderers Guild of America.(E.G.A.)

We were able to take possession of several boxes of beautiful threads and other items which have been put to use already in the stitcheries so far.

We are planing some further activities using more of the donated items in the year when the first little quilts are done...

Thank you to the embroiderers and patchworkers  of America from a grateful group in Traralgon South.

Many of these stitchers lost their homes and beloved pieces of embroidery, quilts etc...and this has meant so much.

All the participants have been affected by the tragedy that overtook   Calignee,Traralgon South,Gormandale,Boolarra ,Darlimurla and other communities in the district.

However we are not letting it get to us we are "Stitching ourselves T
ogether"

One of the ladies today told me that she has felt real peace for the first time in a long time whilst stitching some patches for her quilt...How good is that!
